I’m going to let you in on secret, one of the first careers I ever wanted to pursue was that of an artist. I then went on to discover that my painting skills left a lot to be desired but my appreciation for art is just as strong now as it was at 7 years old. I gravitate towards contemporary works and am obsessed with bold utilisation of colour. So when I saw a glimpse of the latest exhibition at Sydney’s Carriageworks I had to go. With out a doubt Katharine Grosse’s latest installation titled ‘The Horse Trotted Another Couple of Metres, Then It Stopped’ is one of the most impressive pieces of work I have ever seen. With over 8,250 square metes of fabric painted with a mesmerising thirty shades the sheer magnitude of the installation combined with the assortment of rainbow hues is best described as a transcendent experience. Open until April 8 this is a must for every local and tourist.
