One thing I truly appreciate about my hometown Sydney, is its quaintness but the downside is that discovering new places to eat, stay and play can be limiting. Though there is no place like home not a day goes by where I don’t find myself missing my second homes in Dubai and London namely because no matter what you see, do and experience there, it is always just the tip of the iceberg in two cities constantly undergoing reinvention.
Feeling particularly nostalgic I was fortunate enough to be invited to the launch of Contained, a new pop up hotel and bar on Cockatoo Island last week and immediately felt as though I had discovered a place that married by three homes. Contained is place that fuses Sydney’s quaintness yet it felt as though I was partying on the beaches of Dubai’s marina again whilst capturing London’s energy. I was home.
In a city this small, pop up concepts like Contained are essential for momentum, tourism and local engagement. Eat, play and stay with a twist in the heart of Sydney’s iconic harbour by spending the night in repurposed shipping containers exquisitely crafted to make you feel completely relaxed. Though there is an on site bar with incredible Latin American cocktails and cuisine this concept is truly perfect for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle yet don’t want to travel too far. For those looking to pop the question, this would be your one stop romantic stop.
