“Try and leave this world a little better than you found it”
It was Lord Robert Baden- Powell who engineered these instructions on how to live a life with meaning and was a quote by Father passed down to me as child.
Through the years, from childhood to adulthood, the manner in which I interpreted these instructions evolved. I always looked as to how I could make a difference on a grand scale by way of volunteer work, acts of service and charity. Lately, I have been reflecting on how Baden-Powell’s instructions can be applied on a micro level when it comes to consumer habits and who in this world deserves better.

Naturally the list of who and what deserves better is endless in a world that can be both unfair and cruel. For me, it always comes back to those without a voice … animals. The second part of that quote, often omitted, is that “when your turn comes to die you can die happy in feeling at any rate, you have not wasted your time but have done your best.” When I look at how animals are sacrificed in the name of fashion, my best these days equates to avoiding the consumption of meat and not purchasing new products cut from leather.

The simple fact is that over a billion animals are slaughtered each year for their hides, with many enduring horrendous conditions throughout the lives. When it comes to leaving the world in a better place surely this extends to those whom we share this world with, by giving all creatures a chance at a better tomorrow. This sentiment is beginning to resonate within the industry, with leading vegan brands like Angela Roi showcasing that conscious craftsmanship and luxury can be attained.

This no sacrifice brand is founded on the belief that we can live in a world that doesn’t demand we resign our morals for the sake of style. Through their elegant and ethical designs Angela Roi encourages us all to transform our approach to fashion and the materials we gravitate towards.
