What I Wore To AAFW | Volume 3

A few weeks prior to the commencement of AAFW, Australia sadly lost one of their pioneer designers, Carla Zampatti.

A leader in her field who fiercely paved the way for Australian designers, Carla Zampatti’s untimely passing was a shock for many within the industry. Her self named brand was synonymous with classic contemporary structures, a dash of power dressing and a pinch of luxury. Carla’s work undoubtedly has influenced my own personal style and and as a business woman she has taught me the power of determination and self belief.

In preparing my fashion week ensembles, I was adamant that I wanted to incorporate a Carla Zampatti piece into one of my looks. It was my way of paying homage to a brilliant woman, talented designer and exemplary Australian. Carla was a champion of the arts and a sustainable fashion industry which was evident in her business practices, her commitment to supporting local manufacturers in Australia and ethical accreditation. That is what made Carla Zampatti a leader, not just her creative flare but her integrity.

Having arrived in Australia from Italy at the age of 6, Carla Zampatti created an incredible life for herself and with over 55 years of service to fashion she leaves behind an unwavering legacy.
