When I reflect on the style icons I became obsessed with as a little girl, there is one photo that stands out – model Jean Shrimpton rocking a scandalous little white dress to the 1965 Melbourne Cup. It was love at first sight.
For the time the LWD was a fashion risk given Jean attended the event in a style that did not adhere to the required dress code. Years later I believe this was a result of lost luggage and who knew the silver lining would be an iconic moment in fashion. The image imprinted on my brain so fiercely that I have not stopped hunting for my own perfect little white dress for years … and years … and years.
Several years later I found it.
What I adore besides the construction of the dress is that by embracing my usual black/white/neutral style philosophy I am able to create a backdrop where I can experiment with pops of colour when it comes to my accessories.
